Christmas is round the corner and each one of us wants to get into the holiday mood. The current pandemic situation might be a hindrance but when you are counting down to the big day can anything stop us? Even when you are planning to join September university intake, why not get into the holiday spirit while you wait? Or if you are in your student accommodation, your student pad also deserves some festive loving, and these five Christmas decoration ideas will keep you in good cheer.

1. Christmas Pines

Christmas is not Christmas without a few pines, spruces and firs. Adding an artificial tree or even a festive wreath will instantly make your room Christmassy. Now where can you get it? Surely at dirt cheap on Amazon. If you live in a not so spacious student housing then why not tape some green tinsel to a wall in the shape of a tree to celebrate the yuletide season without much hassle? Throw in some teardrop swags or tinsel garlands to set the scene with the rich tones of the fall season.

2. Macramé Wall Hangings

The DIY boxes to get you started with Macramé decorations for Christmas are getting more and more popular these days. While you are at your student accommodations and it is not much safe to go out, there is nothing more productive than learning some new skills and how to make Christmas decorative items out of Macramé. You can try your hands on some creative pieces which you can hang on your Christmas tree or outside on your main door or if you have a snowman out at the courtyard try making his hat or stole with Macramé. The possibilities are endless. As anyone who is into macramé knots, once you start macramé, you want to do more and it’s almost an addiction.

3. String Lights

String lights are a surefire way to go for some brightness this Christmas with decorative ideas which you can try. Bright fairy lights can be wrapped around your bed frame or draped across furniture to achieve that festive glow. You can also string ‘em across your ceiling of your student apartment or weave them in and out of empty glass bottles for a fun centerpiece that doesn’t break the bank. Introduce holiday warmth to the accommodation with a scented candle or two. If you are feeling homesick just find some family pictures and attach those to the rope so that you do not miss their absence and relive every moment with them. You can decorate it with string lights then.

4. Bath Towel Decorations

A unique way to start this festive season with something you never thought could be a decorative item for Christmas. Yes, the bath towels can also fit into the Christmas mood. Choose one or two towels that you intend to hang during Christmas. Use outdoor acrylic paint and sturdy brushes to draw the shapes you wish to keep on your sheet. You could simply draw a tree, candies, and Christmas socks. If you are sure about your artistic skills, try drawing Santa Claus with his reindeers. You can even hang some decorations in the bathroom mirror. Looking at it in the morning will make your whole day.

5. Christmas Jumpers

Christmas is simply a get going festival with no rules applicable on anyone. Set up your mood with Polaroid shots with your mates in quite amusing Christmas jumpers. The best part is to hang up your stockings with candies and little treats for your housemates or play carols over the speaker for a festive air. It’ll give you something to laugh about when you return in the New Year.

Hope to get you all set for the Christmas celebrations this year with decoration ideas that will not only add pizzazz to your room but also make it cozy and welcoming for the holiday season. For more whimsical ideas and the latest of student life in your inbox, subscribe to our monthly newsletter!
