Canberra has been ranked in the top 20 student cities of the world. It is known for its great student mix and welcoming culture. International students alone make up 30% of the student population in Australia. The city also has beautiful architecture and a thriving youth community.

Regarded as one of the cheapest places to live, Canberra ranks very high in terms of an effective cost of living. You can also find some iconic bars and niche cafes scattered around the city. In short, the city not only has a great education system but also a buzzing social life and delectable food.

Here are some places you must visit to make the most of Canberra!

1. Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Flight:

Take a tour over the majestic mountains of Canberra on a hot air balloon for an unforgettable experience. Enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city, including the vast Lake Burley Griffin and the monumental architecture of the Parliament House. Sounds magical, right.

2. Tidbinbilla:

Only a short drive away from Canberra is the natural reserve of Tidbinbilla. If you love wildlife, this place is a must-visit. They have kangaroos, koalas, platypus, potoroos, wallaroos, possums, wombats, echidnas, emus, lyrebirds as well as many other birds and reptiles. It’s also home to endangered species like the Northern Corroboree Frog and Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby.

3. Australian Institute of Sports:

Australia is known for its sports athletes, and this is where most of them trained to become the legends they are. Witness the tough routines practiced here, or even participate in one! If you’re lucky, you may even get a chance to go for a run with your favorite athlete. You can also opt for Sportex – an interactive experience that lets you instantly become an athlete rowing in a virtual race, scoring a goal in a football match or even playing wheelchair basketball.

4. Parliament Tour:

Immerse yourself in Australian history by taking a tour of the Australian Parliament and National Museum. Visit the Australian war memorial to pay homage to the soldiers, check out the Parliament house for a dose of democracy in action and then reach the top of Mount Ainslie for a 360 degrees’ view of modern architecture.

We at University Living helps students find a happy student apartments so they can live, learn and achieve while making memories for a lifetime.
