Unfortunately, he lost his father in second grade.\u00a0However, even with these\u00a0unfortunate\u00a0circumstances\u00a0he\u00a0studied\u00a0really\u00a0hard\u00a0&amp;\u00a0prepared\u00a0for CAT examinations and SATs (SATs during 12th standard). And with\u00a0God\u2019s grace,\u00a0he got\u00a0a very good\u00a0SAT score\u00a0&amp;\u00a0his mentor told him he would easily get a 50% scholarship from the University of Seattle.\u00a0He could have gone to the University of Seattle with a 50% scholarship. Instead, he stayed back for his mother and sisters.\u00a0And he did his\u00a0MBA from\u00a0India, worked at Times Group, and was later poached by\u00a0<strong>University of\u00a0East\u00a0London,<\/strong>\u00a0which was awarded bythe\u00a0<strong>Guardian University Guide 2026: #33 in the UK<\/strong>. Today, he is 35, settled in Dubai with his wife and 75+ year old mother, and has helped scale\u00a0UEL\u2019s South Asian footprint like few others.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His mantra? \u201cHustle humbly.\u201d A neon sign he looks at every day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Quick Info\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 In\u00a0the Czech\u00a0language,\u00a0Pavel means \u201c<em>humble<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For students, this is the first lesson: you can be rooted and still become a global citizen. That is not just a mere coincidence. But this is the decision that Indian students are making. However, it is also true\u00a0that\u00a0scaling becomes hard sometimes. As Pavel admits,\u00a0\u201cWhen you do 5,000 students, you know the quality. At 25,000, there will be\u00a01 bad case in 1,000. UEL\u2019s first week is orientation and induction, not just academic, but social. They have one of the largest Indian student clubs in the UK, celebrating festivals on campus. Why does this matter\u00a0for\u00a0living?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because a student who feels lonely will not attend workshops. They will not build their \u201c<strong>Career Passport<\/strong>\u201d (UEL\u2019s\u00a0in\u2011house\u00a0LinkedIn). They may even drop out.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pavel shared a personal habit: he stays in UEL\u2019s\u00a0on\u2011campus\u00a0accommodation himself\u00a0to experience what students go through. Most university administrators never do that.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also praised accommodation partners like<a href=\"https:\/\/www.universityliving.com\/blog\/accommodation\/vita-student-living\/\" title=\"\u00a0Vita Student\u00a0\"><strong>\u00a0Vita Student\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>(formerly \u201cbelong\u201d,\u00a0now \u201cbegin big\u201d). Otherwise,\u00a0you end up paying more and losing the right location.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.universityliving.com\/country\/united-kingdom\" title=\"Student accommodation\u00a0UK\">Student accommodation\u00a0UK<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is the second largest spend item after tuition, for students who want to build their resume from any United Kingdom\u00a0university. It affects mental health, study focus, and even employability.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Comfort Zone vs. Launchpad: Why Moving Out Is\u00a0Non\u2011Negotiable\u00a0for\u00a0Students?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staying in Amritsar was comfortable. But he moved to Chennai, Mumbai,\u00a0Bangalore, Delhi, and finally Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each move was tough. \u201cIf you do not sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice.\u201d He remembers a Buddhist saying: \u201c<strong>The journey to the moon takes 12 days, but most people quit on day 11.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Living at university requires sacrifice. You\u00a0might need to\u00a0share a bathroom.\u00a0You\u00a0have to\u00a0cook your own meals.\u00a0Plus, sometimes (or most of the time) you need to\u00a0cope with homesickness, which Pavel says is very real for South Asian students because families are close-knit and supportive. But that struggle is the launchpad. Students who live on campus or in <strong>purpose-built student\u00a0accommodation\u00a0London (PBSA)<\/strong> stay enrolled longer and have better career results because they build peer networks, attend evening workshops, and learn to hustle.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Employability Starts at Your Front Door\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>University of East London\u00a0<\/strong>(Ranked 33 in the UK, Guardian University Guide 2026: #33 in the UK)\u00a0offers a\u00a0<strong>careers\u00a0guarantee.\u00a0<\/strong>This is a program with\u00a0access\u00a0to career services for up to 5 years after graduation.\u00a0Their Career Passport tracks student engagement in AI, emotional intelligence, and data interpretation workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It came as quite a surprise to Pavel to learn that an<strong>\u00a0incredible 96% of the graduates\u00a0<\/strong>from the University of East London receive employment offers within only six months after their graduation. Most graduates get a job in the NHS or get recruited by multinational IT companies such as Google. Others decide to launch their own ventures, including a venture called Sugar Crate, which manufactures eco-friendly bricks made from sugarcane residue waste. Sugar Crate is the brainchild of a University of East London alumni based in Greater Noida.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also formed a special<strong>\u00a0India Advisory Board at UEL<\/strong>, through which he collaborated with some of the biggest IT firms in India, including TCS, to help create more jobs in India as well as in other countries in the world. Before wrapping up this blog, however, I have a special message for all those individuals who matter most \u2013 the parents. It should be noted that the gap between your child\u2019s bed and his first employment offer can sometimes be as small as a few\u00a0kilometres.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Billboard Message\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of this blog, what\u00a0do\u00a0you think\u00a0Pavel\u00a0might have said to all aspiring students? <strong>\u201cLive by your values and principles.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Yes, these were his words. And he means it.
