    What sets LA apart?
Posing with a sidewalk star along the Hollywood Walk of Fame seems like the most LA-thing to do, but this wasn’t always the case. Before the dreams of making it big in Hollywood brought in the likes of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, the Gold Rush had hordes of prospectors, land speculators, oil barons, and manual labourers flocking to Los Angeles. The sprawling city that we have now come to know as LA was once named as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula by its Spanish settlers.
