    Founded in 1839 by Methodists, Boston University is a private institution with its original campus was in Newbury, Vermont before moving to Boston in 1867. It is recognised as one of the biggest independent, nonprofit universities in the country. The university is a major international research institution, providing breakthroughs in almost everything from African studies to zebrafish genetics. It has around 33,000 students and over 3,900 faculty members and the campus size is 169 acres. BU’s three city campuses are always buzzing with students from all over the world. Established in 1869, the university has since grown into the biggest university in Boston and the 4th-largest private university in the US. It has got some of the best faculties which include a Pulitzer Prize winner, a MacArthur fellow, a former US Poet Laureate, and dozens of Guggenheim fellows. 

    Campus Overview 
    Charles River Campus is the University's main campus, beginning near Kenmore Square and continuing for over a mile and a half to its end near the border of Boston's Allston neighbourhood. The Medical Campus is on the hand is located in Boston's South End neighbourhood. The Charles River campus contains an array of architecturally diverse buildings such as the College of Arts and Sciences, Marsh Chapel, and the School of Theology buildings. These buildings were built in the late-1930s and 1940s in collegiate gothic style. 

    Student Accommodation near Boston University
    The university provides the option of on-campus halls for four years for all undergraduate students. 
    All these housings are catered and you need to get enrolled in a year-long meal plan while living in these dormitories. 

    Besides these on-campus student home, there are several private student accommodations located in close proximity to the BU campus. These accommodations are well-built and fully-furnished with all the basic amenities. These are popularly known as purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA). The city of Boston offers a wide range of student room types – from affordable to expensive – depending on the location and budget. If you prefer a more independent space, you will find many studio apartments or you can also opt for shared living spaces or en-suite rooms where you will be able to enjoy most of your time.

    How are the student housing connected to the city?
    The city offers excellent transport connectivity with a bus stop located close to student accommodations. These private accommodations also have to and fro shuttle service available to their residents which makes travel quite easy and comfortable. The best thing about BU is that most of the buildings of the main campus are located on or near Commonwealth Avenue. It may be easily accessed using trains on the Green Line. Many students prefer to travel by bicycles which is super environment friendly and good for health too. 

    Student Life at Boston University
    The university also has around 500 different student clubs, ranging from Ski Racing to the Juggling Association. If you are interested in anything and there is no club for that, you can make one by yourself. The campus offers a vibrant student life hosting campus and non-campus musical performances in the Tsai Performance Center. The University also hosts numerous events each year, from debates to opera to comedy and lectures. Students staying at private accommodations also get to enjoy a lot of things. The home is filled with various amenities such as a cinema room, swimming pool, outdoor area, volleyball court, games rooms, and plenty more.
