Vistara has announced flights from Delhi to London Heathrow starting Friday, 28 August. The carrier will fly thrice a week between the two cities (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) on its newly acquired Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Tickets have been priced quite competitively: one-way fares from Delhi to London start Rs29,912 for Economy Class, Rs44,449 for Premium Economy, and Rs77,373 for Business Class. Next on the list are flights to Paris, France and Frankfurt, Germany, the airline says.

Vistara’s Delhi-London flights

These flights are part of the special bilateral travel bubble between India and the UK and for now, have been scheduled till 30 September. The Delhi-London flight takes off at 0255 hrs and arrives in Heathrow at 0655 hrs. On return, the flight leaves London at 1535 hrs and lands at Delhi’s IGIA at 0415 hrs the next morning.

Some rules for travel

If you’re planning a trip to the UK, mind these rules:

  • As per the latest travel guidelines, any Indan national with a valid UK visa (and whose final destination is the UK), can get on board.
  • UK currently requires a 14-day self-quarantine for travellers from most countries, including India. A small set of people is exempt though.
  • Vistara’s rules for travel require you to wear a mask at all times during the journey (which includes the airport), and additionally, a face-shield through the duration of the flight. The airline says its staff will wear personal protection equipment (PPE) at all times and avoid non-essential contact with flyers. There is also a new food and beverage service (yes!), in keeping with the updated health and safety norms.

Meanwhile, British Airways has resumed flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru from Monday. Virgin Atlantic will start flying to Delhi from 2 September and to Mumbai from 17 September. SpiceJet has acquired a pair of slots at Heathrow from September, though we don’t know when flights will take off. And Air India has been operating flights between the two countries as part of the Vande Bharat Mission.
