The United States of America is in North America and is known as “the place of opportunity.” It is always an evergreen study destination for international students.

America has world-class institutes, amazing people, and hospitable culture. If you want to get into the best institutes, start looking for universities early and prepare for them.

In order to study in the US, you can choose a program between three intakes: fall, spring, and summer.

The journey to study in the US involves a long process: application, university deadline, visa application, and finally flight booking.

In this guide, we will help you understand the details of each intake:

Fall Intake

It is the primary intake at all the universities in the USA. Hence, it is one of the most popular intakes out of the three. The fall intake marks the start of the academic year. The universities offer many programs and courses during this intake.

The application process for all the universities begins in late August – September.

Please note that deadlines vary among universities. So, check the university’s website for correct details on submission deadlines.

University Admission:

(A, A+): November/December of the previous year A-, B, B+, and C-grade universities: February or March of the same year C- and D-grade universities: June or July of the same year.

Spring Intake

The spring intake is chosen by students who missed the fall intake. It begins in January and ends in the middle of the academic year. The spring courses enable students to complete them early and start working. There is less competition in this intake.

The admissions process is easy, and universities accepting spring intakes begin in January – May.

Please note that deadlines vary among universities. So, check the university’s website for the correct details on submission deadlines.

University Admission:

(A, A+): March/April of the same year A-, B, B+, and C-grade universities: July/August of the same year C- and D-grade universities: October/November

Summer Intake

The spring intake is open at a few universities offering specific courses.

They offer short-term courses and certificates. There are also some universities that offer UG and PG programs for the summer intake.

It starts accepting applications in April or May and ends in August.

Admission Journey To the USA

Research: Start by listing the universities of interest and their programs. When you look for universities, there are certain factors to consider:

  • Academic reputation
  • Cost
  • Location
  • Accommodation
  • Scholarship
  • Culture of the university

Admission requirements: Some universities may need you to take standardized tests such as:

  • GMAT
  • TOEFL
  • GRE
  • IELTS

Application: When you’ve selected a university, make sure you follow these points:

  • Make sure you have information on its entry requirements.
  • Start your application.
  • Apply online through the university’s website.
  • Provide the necessary documents.
  • Know your deadlines, and submit them on time.

Payment: Most universities will require students to pay an application fee. The cost of the tuition fee will depend on the type of course and university you choose.

University decisions: After submitting your application, you may have to wait a few weeks or months. Some universities may need more documents or an interview before giving results.

Apply for a student visa: Once you are accepted by the university of your interest. You can go ahead and apply for a student visa.

Find accommodation: It’s advisable to book student accommodation in USA in cities such as New York, Washington, and Boston before you travel. It will give you better options like pricing, location, and a safe and secure home.

Note: The admissions process is a bit laborious; work with caution and patience. Follow the steps and check for details. Even a slight mistake can hamper your application.

The fall intake receives the largest application. So, if you want to get into the top universities, start looking!

Search for universities that fit your criteria and start the application process.

We hope this blog guides you through your admission. We wish you good luck with your application and journey.
