University of Melbourne: Overview

The University of Melbourne was established in 1853 and is the second oldest university of Australia. It is a member university of the Group of Eight (Go8), which includes Australia’s top 8 universities. The University of Melbourne consists of ten distinct academic units and is affiliated with several prominent institutes and research centers, such as the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, and the Grattan Institute. International students are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of AUD $130 for each application submitted. Starting from 1 January 2025, this fee will increase to AUD $150. The payment is made at the end of the online application process via credit card.
