A Student Guide to Staying in Southampton

A major port on the UK’s South Coast, Southampton is home to the Saints football club, SeaCity Museum, and The Marlands shopping centre. With so much to offer culturally, historically and socially, everyone will be unsurprised by its popularity.

It is also home to the University of Southampton which is in the top 1% of universities worldwide. No matter which university you’re in, we at University Living have got your accommodation sorted!

1. The Walls

Each room available comes with plenty of storage space, bed, wardrobe, and kitchen. There are different tiers of rooms so make sure you check them out to get the best studio room for you! The facilities include a gym, laundry room, study room, microwave, cinema room, common area, bicycle storage, foosball, and games room. There are high-speed Wi-Fi connection and security to keep you safe!

Southampton Solent University is just a17-minutes’ walk away, perfect for you late risers! The University of Southampton Highfield Campus is a 32-minutes’ bus ride and the Avenue Campus is only 29 minutes by bus. The River Itchen is only a few minutes away, perfect for those wanting some time alone or needs inspiration!

2. Vincent Place

The shared flats are made up of 4-6 bedrooms. There are studio apartments and penthouse suites on higher floors with fantastic views of the city. Facilities include study and common areas, contents insurance, pool table, onsite gym and laundry rooms and a garden courtyard! There are CCTV and security to keep you safe, not to mention Wi-Fi for those late-night study sessions.

The Southampton Solent University is a 10-minutes’ walk away. The University of Southampton Highfield Campus is 22 minutes and the Avenue Campus is only 15-minutes by bus. This student accommodation is perfect for those who want to spend some time in the city centre to get away from the hustle and bustle of uni life.

3. Vita Portswood House

Situated close to the River Itchen with stunning views, this accommodation really is one to consider. Facilities include onsite gym and laundry, cinema, pool table and garden courtyard, not to mention all the other incredible Vita Student services, including a games room and free breakfast. There is also content insurance and CCTV around the accommodation with security means you will be safe!

The University of Southampton Highfield Campus 16–minutes’ walk and the universities Students’ Union is only 6 minutes by bus, perfect to grab a drink with friends! Rooms available include two types of studio rooms which are perfect for those who value their privacy.

4. Vita Richmond House

Studios here are equipped with a bed, wardrobe, and a kitchen. Besides, this is just a stone’s throw away from the city centre – what more could you want? Facilities include onsite gym and laundry, study room, computer lab, games room, pool table and common area. There is also high-speed Wi-Fi is available, not to mention secure door entry and CCTV to keep you safe.

Southampton Solent University is 17 minutes by bus. The University of Southampton Highfield Campus is 38 minutes and the Avenue Campus is only 28 minutes away. There is no excuse to be late for lectures!

The rooms offer different views of the city, so make sure you check them out to be the envy of all your friends. Close to the River Itchen, it’s perfect for new students to get away from studying and have a well-deserved break.

5. Liberty Quays – Southampton

Located on Duke Street close to the Southampton Marina, this modern student accommodation is great for students who are looking to make the most of their university experience. Solent University is just an 11-minutes’ walk away, so you can save both time and money on daily commute.

It offers well-furnished studio and en-suite rooms which are equipped with a comfortable bed, study table and chair, and plenty of storage space for all your belongings. The accommodation is quite close to the city centre so if you’re a foodie you will enjoy a lot while staying here.
