Planning to be a part of University Clearing 2023? But don’t know how it works and how to apply? Don’t worry University Living has got you covered. Here’s a guide to UCAS clearing including important dates, how to apply, and clearing FAQs.

So as some of you may know Clearing 2023 is here but do you know what is this “Clearing” and why it is conducted?

Clearing is how various universities and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses.

The system is quite popular and is mostly used by students who miss out on a place at their chosen universities come results day.

It is conducted to give students a second chance at getting a place at university, by matching them to universities with unfilled places.

What are the key dates and who can you use Clearing?

As we all know timing plays an important role in everything and the same is true for Clearing as well. From 6 July – 20 October, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you are not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course still has places.

You can use Clearing only if:

  • You’re applying after 30 June
  • You didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
  • You didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
  • You’ve paid the multiple-choice application fee of £25
  • You’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in Track

What is Clearing Plus and how it is different from Clearing?

Clearing Plus is something new for 2020. This new tool is designed to help students find their perfect course and will be available alongside Clearing.

In Clearing Plus, UCAS will personally match you to courses you may be interested in, using what they know about you from your application, and what universities and colleges are looking for in a student.

NOTE: Clearing Plus isn’t available for everyone. If you’re unsuccessful with your application or are applying for the first time for a place in Clearing, you’ll be able to ‘view your matches’.

Every year UCAS provides this excellent opportunity of Clearing to re-think if you are unsure about a course, or wondering if you will be best using your skillset. Lots of universities have easy-to-view course information online and can also view your application and officially accept you.

Once you’re confirmed for a university, your next step is to look for student accommodation in the city. You should start by researching about the town or city you’ll be living in, and why not check out our student accommodation search function to make your work simpler? You just have to enter the city or university you will be going to study at and in just one click you will get all available properties which you can filter by room types, ratings, price or proximity to your potential university.
