Rome is the capital city of Italy and the largest city in Europe. It is also one of the most popular study destinations on the continent. There are innumerable things for students to enjoy and live a fulfilling study experience as it overflows with beautiful sites, food, wine, culture, and adventure.

Is Rome expensive to live in?

Living in Rome will cost €850 – €1,550 per month excluding tuition fees.  This will cover your food, transportation, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Is Rome expensive to study?

The cost of tuition fees is low compared to other European cities. If you apply for a scholarship, it will cover the cost of fees. But, on average, the price will depend upon the course, university, and national residence. The fee will be applicable depending on these factors. Below is only an average cost for the tuition fee given for the UG and PG fees in Rome. Please check in with your universities for the same.

Is Rome expensive to live in?

With the availability of student accommodation in Rome, it’s easy to find a home where you can live with comfortable, safe, and secure amenities. These are the three types of accommodation you can look into and check out before making an informed decision. 

Student Housing

Student housing is a popular type of accommodation because it is modern and comes with amenities, services, and inclusive utility bills. They are also built in the prime area, making it convenient to travel to the universities and other places within the city. 

Most of the accommodations are at a distance of under 3 miles. While the ones outside of the city center are up to 20 miles.

University halls differ a lot from private accommodation as universities manage them. The halls are provided to students who want to stay on campus to make it easier to get to class. But, there are basic facilities with less privacy, which can be noisy too.

Is it expensive to eat outside in Rome?

There’s no definite amount on the cost of eating out as it will be determined by the location, lifestyle, and spending habits. Eating outside is always more expensive than cooking meals at home. If you cook meals at home, you can save a lot! On average, the cost of groceries will come to approx €300 /month. Compared to eating out, you will have to spend €33 on a meal in a mid-range restaurant,  €10 in a fast food chain, and probably €5 on beer in a pub. 

What is the cost of electricity bills in Rome?

The student accommodation covers the utility bills, including Wi-Fi, Electricity, Water, Gas Heating, Cooling CCTV, and Secure door entry. For your information, the electricity in Rome will cost €220 /month. 

How to get around Rome cheaply?

The best and cheapest way to get around Rome and its surrounding areas is by bus, tram, and metro. There’s the Roma pass for students which costs €38 for a month. It is also a bike-friendly city, meaning you can navigate the city by cycling. If you don’t have a bike, you can always rent one which costs €10 /day.
