Nightlife in the Country Town of Adelaide

Adelaide’s nightlife is booming and like how. There are pubs, bars, restaurants, underground finds and music scenes that would make you fall in love with the city all over again. As everything in Adelaide is not that far, you can also plan on pub crawls every now and then to enjoy every kind of nightlife this city has to offer.

We went around and asked our students about where they go on a Friday night, these are our finds:

1. The Old Exchange & Producers Bar: A heritage pub in Grenfell Street, the Old Exchange & Producers Bar has been around since 1839, and over recent years have attracted a steady and loyal crowd of all the age groups. It is one of the best places to catch some live music. On Mondays, they have local folk bands, while on Fridays they bring in a more alternative crowd with a greater focus on rock, indie, and metal. Also popular for its generous beer garden, you can’t go wrong when starting your night off.

2. Chihuahua Bar: A small bar in Peel street, Chihuahua Bar spans over two floors and has spacious interiors. There is also an outdoor seating that is very cosy with a flame heater, that keeps you warm and fuzzy. They have a fantastic collection of tequila drinks. Their Mexican-themed cocktails have a tangy, fresh twist, a combination of tequila-infused drinks, and South American wines are sure to add to the “exotic” element boasted by this little bar. I hear their smoked salmon tostadas are the yummiest.

3. Maybe Mae: Maybe Mae is a secret art deco bar found through the Peel Street-Leigh Street tunnel. They have an exciting cocktail list. The Entire Donkey is a refreshing tall glass with gin, coriander, and citrus topped with ginger beer, while the Rye Idea features Applejack, maple, citrus, and aromas with a rye whiskey infused with speck fat from Bread and Bone upstairs. They’re more classic style cocktails with a bit of a twist. There’s also an interesting selection of Australian and international beers, and some good brews on tap that come in 200ml, 350ml, and 1892ml sizes. Just find the right keyhole, and you have access to this little secret find.

4. Super mild: On the Hindley street of Australia, there is the classic bar called Supermind. This bar has been a staple of Adelaide’s nightlife scene for years. This place is a classic spot for delivering long necks and listening to live music. Here. sometimes you’ll walk down to find a laid-back scene with people sipping on beers and chatting around tables, other time the dance floor will be packed with sweaty bodies. It is a must-go for every student here if you wish to get the local feel to the city.
