Getting enrolled in a London University is indeed good news but have you ever thought about what follows thereafter? It is the search for an affordable living option and most importantly, checking out the right location of stay in London. You should be looking for strategic locations close to important places of interest with first and foremost being your university, then other places like utility shops, grocery stores, ATMs, restaurants, nightclubs, and also city attractions you would most often like to visit.

Regarded as one of the best student cities in the world, London is home to renowned universities like University College London, King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), London School of Economics, and London Business School to name a few. Not just confined to prestigious universities, London has the most beautiful artisan cafes, art centres, multi-cultural restaurants, and plenty of bars, and nightclubs.

Having close proximity to almost all these places in London or at least having public transport availability to travel longer distances, there are residential areas in this city where you can find your second home. What follows next in this blog is information about such residential areas where you can stay as a student and also explore what lies in the vicinity.

Shoreditch

If you are living in a quaint student apartment in Shoreditch, then you’ll have the best of both worlds while you study in London. Here you will find the joys of a lively neighbourhood which is an artistic area adjacent to the equally hip Hoxton. From classic vintage shops, top-rated restaurants to Shoreditch High Street clubs, you will get everything best in this student area to keep you going with the tide.

With its close proximity to universities like UCL, Queen Mary, University of Liverpool in London, and City University London, this is one ideal student residential area to include in your list. The area offers student accommodations like Scape Shoreditch and iQ Shoreditch in Zone 1 of London.

South Bank

Known as a dynamic area which is just beside the River Thames, South Bank in London is in the heart of the city’s cultural scene where you can venture at art venues such as the National Theatre, The Southbank Centre, and the BFI film theatre. South Bank also attracts visitors for its riverside walkway which is lined with an array of restaurants and iconic landmarks like London Eye Ferris wheel, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Big Ben, to name a few.

This area is also known for London South Bank University which is a public research university located near the South Bank of the River Thames. This residential area for students is easily accessible via various trains and underground stations and is the perfect location to experience the best that London has to offer.
There are several student accommodations located in the London South Bank residential area, including Portchester House that offers a range of studio rooms specifically meant for university students to stay.

This is a student area that falls between Waterloo, London Bridge, and the South Bank. However, many of the purpose-built student accommodations (PBSAs) are also located at walking distance from the campus of London South Bank University in areas like Lambeth, Westminster Bridge Road, Waterloo, Ewer Street, and Walworth Road to add a few.

Kings Cross

This is yet another fascinating student zone where you will find the most luxurious student accommodations till date. Kings Cross is ideally meant for residents who love to be amidst the hustle-bustle of the city. What more? This place also has its name in the famous Harry Potter series where the Kings Cross International station has the secret platform, 9 3/4, from where students used to travel to Hogwarts School.

Accommodation like Kings Cross Residence is located in the heart of this residential area where students can experience a great nightlife as all famous pubs and clubs are in the vicinity.

Mile End

Ideally meant for students enrolled at QMUL, Mile End is the East London student hub which is hardly 10-minutes from central London. This is a preferred budget-friendly location for students of other universities as well so that they can head to their study campuses on time and also explore the city at leisure.

You can look for a student room in Scape Mile End ideally located on the Regent’s Canal which is close to the on-campus Ground Café to grab a refreshing brew while chatting with friends during lecture breaks.

Hamstead

Known to be a historical place which was once home to the most famous poet John Keats and a lot many celebrities you might know. Hamstead is a popular student residential locality which is full of posh clubs and cafes to head for and with student accommodations nearby, you can be there in a jiffy.

This student area is also bestowed with Primrose Park on a hilltop which is known for its breathtaking scenic views and plethora of natural flora, ideal for heavenly strolls. Nido West Hampstead is great student accommodation available in this neighbourhood which is perfect for both domestic and international students in London.

You can, therefore, be fortunate enough to venture to these prominent student residential areas and visit the aforementioned properties in these student-friendly neighbourhoods. It will only be a great help to your student accommodation quest and assist you well in making a more informed decision.
