Undergraduate Courses in Canada

Canada offers undergraduate education for students wanting to pursue higher education. The duration of the course is for 3-5 years. As for international students, they must have a Bachelor’s degree of a minimum of four years from a recognized university. There are many universities offering courses in various disciplines.

Certificate Programs

Canada offers certificate programs for students who want to do a short-term program. This course runs for three- eight months at all colleges and universities. The most common areas include IT, Health Care Administration, Business, etc.

Diploma Programs

Canada offers diploma programs which are similar to certificate programs. It is designed for students who want to meet their specific studies and career-oriented program. The colleges or universities provide at least two years of study. These programs can also be upgraded to transfer to a Bachelor’s degree. Students need to complete their senior secondary program to qualify for this program.

Associate Degree

Canada offers an associate degree for students who want a two-year undergraduate degree. It is equal to the first two years of the four-year UG program. Students can enrol immediately into the third year of a Bachelor’s degree. The program offers a study in science or Arts and comprises general and specialized areas of interest.

Bachelor’s Degree

Canada offers Bachelor’s degrees in many colleges and universities. It is a four-year full-time degree. During the first two years, students are taught general and foundation knowledge. By the following year, they will specialize in their major. And, by the fifth year, it involves a supervised practicum.

Master’s Degree

Canada has many universities that offer one to three years of postgraduate degrees. The main subjects include Engineering, business, Computer Science, Health, IT, Arts, etc. The program expects students to conduct their research and work on their thesis. Students must complete their Bachelor’s degree to qualify for a master’s program.

Doctorate Degree

Canada offers students to study for a doctorate for four to six years full time. It equals comprehensive and analytical work, followed by a thesis or dissertation. This course is opted for by students pursuing professions such as doctors, professors and government jobs.
