Dublin is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Ireland.

Life for students in Dublin offers an easygoing vibe. It’s less rushy as compared to the UK’s other capital cities. The Irish people are known for their hospitable, friendly, and welcoming nature.

Is Dublin a safe place to stay?

According to the Global Peace Index, “Ireland ranks #3 out of 163 countries on safety and security.”

Is it affordable for students?

The average monthly cost is €1,020.7, excluding tuition fees and rent.

The cost of living in Dublin is a lot cheaper than in London. Whether it’s food, accommodation, or spending costs, it is lower than London.

The cost of your living will depend upon your lifestyle, accommodation, location, etc.  

Before we list the details of the cost of living in Dublin, let’s summarize its cost.

Costs of Tuition Fees

Every course and university charges a different fee for students. It depends on your selection, which will determine your tuition fees.

Student Accommodation Costs

Dublin has so many students who come to study every year. So, there’s a wide range of student accommodations in Dublin. There are three types of accommodations available in the city. The following types are listed below:

1. Student Housing

It’s built and managed by private owners, which means it’s modernly built with up-to-date amenities. In this type of accommodation, you get to choose between a studio, shared room, or private apartment. It’s all-inclusive of utility bills.

Most of the accommodations are at a distance of 0.3 miles. While the ones outside of the city center are only 3-4 miles.

2. Private Apartment

If you want to stay off-campus and get some privacy, this is an ideal type of accommodation. You can take the whole apartment or you can share the apartment with your friends and still enjoy freedom. It is all-inclusive of utility bills.

Most of the accommodations are at a distance of 0.2 miles. While the ones outside of the city center are only 5-6 miles.

3. University Halls

University halls are on-campus buildings. They are built and managed by universities. Every university offers different amenities, and types of rooms. Some come with inclusive utility bills.

Food

Food and drinks are expensive in Dublin, so if you always eat out, it will cost a lot of money. For instance, meals at a budget-friendly restaurant will cost €20, while drinks will cost €6. It’s advisable to cook meals at home to save money.

Utility Bills

As we mentioned above, if you choose to stay in student housing or a private apartment, then your bills are inclusive. While, university halls, they differ in their accommodation policies.

Transportation

There’s the bus, tram, or train to help you get around. Grab your hands on the Leap Card. It is the most cost-effective way to pay for all three modes of public transportation. It is cheaper than buying a single ticket every day.
