The 5 Stages of Every Night Out

Moving to college is like no other time in your life. You stay up nights studying to the point of exhaustion then party it up like there’s no tomorrow. Most importantly, you make friends that you’ll cherish for the rest of your life. With them by your side, you’ll have the craziest days and spectacularly insane nights. With life more demanding than ever, such night-outs are almost essential for your sanity. They may be unique in their own ways, but you’ll definitely experience each of the following stages:

1. The Planning: A goal without a plan is just a wish. Figure out your game plan. Where to go? What to wear? And most important of all, how much can you afford to spend? Taking these into consideration can turn your night into a memorable affair. Don’t go into overkill, though – micro-planning ruins the magic!

2. The Invitation: Friends need no invitation, but that shouldn’t stop you from shooting a group text to all your best buds. The party animals will show up early to pre-drink while the homebodies will need a lot of convincing to come around. Pick a common place to brace yourselves before the real party begins.

3. The Party: Time to let yourself loose! Hit your favorite club, sing your lungs out, start sloppy friendships in the bathroom queue and down those shots like no tomorrow. Don’t forget to burn the dance floor!

4. The Hangover: This is the least pleasant of all, but is irrevocable proof that a legendary night was had. When you’re groaning about an agonizing headache and cursing everything under the sun, swipe through pictures on your phone to remind yourself how happy you were. Perhaps drunk-dialing your ex and sending embarrassing snaps to your friends wasn’t such a bad deal after all?

5. The Waiting: You made it! If you are still alive and kicking the next morning, it goes down in the books as a successful night. This is when you’ll get the itch to plan the next one. The weekend will shortly be here for you to drink wine and dance on the tables all over again. So call your friends, hop into your car and let the cycle begin!
