University of Queensland: Acceptance Rate

The University of Queensland has an overall acceptance rate of 40% for domestic and international students. The acceptance rate depends on the number of applications received and the total seats offered. Moreover, the acceptance rate can differ for every intake: Summer and Winter. Here are some major factors responsible for the acceptance  rate.

  • Highly popular or prestigious courses, like medicine or engineering have a lower acceptance rate due to limited spots and higher competition.
  • International students must meet UQ’s English language requirements (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL). Strong language skills are necessary for admission, particularly for non-native English speakers.
  • A well-prepared application, including required documents like transcripts, recommendation letters, and personal statements, can significantly improve an applicant’s chances of acceptance.
  • Each course or program has a set number of available spots, which can impact the acceptance rate.
