UClan’s main campus is located right in the heart of the city, with smaller campuses in Burnley, Cumbria and Westlakes, and a satellite campus in Cyprus. There are more than 300 undergraduate programmes to choose from, and many courses offering Foundation Entry routes, along with 200 postgraduate programmes. The university has been at the forefront in emerging disciplines such as Forensic Science, Fashion, and Social Work to more recent additions such as Dentistry.

History of Preston

The city’s name has been derived from the Old English meaning "Priest's settlement", or "Priest's Town", which is a name given to the settlement by Angles. The city of Preston is loc ated on the River Ribble, just ten miles before the river merges into the Irish Sea. Back in the 14th century, Flemish weavers had settled in the city, establishing a textile industry within the area. And by the 1500s the city was a massive centre for the wool and linen trade, which flourished during the time.

Take your pick from shared and independent spaces, studios, and apartments depending on what kind of room type is more suited to you. There are also short-term stays available for students in summer school and exchange programs.

Q. What are the different room types available?

A.The major room types are shared rooms and independent studios. Shared rooms are where 2 or more students share a room, bathroom, kitchen, and other communal spaces. Studios (single or dual occupancy) contain a bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. There are also en-suite rooms where students have access to a private bedroom and bathroom, whereas the kitchen and living areas are shared.

Q. How do I know my accommodation is safe?

A.All properties listed on the website have been personally verified by the team or their representatives. There are also various safety measures in place, including CCTV, secure entry, and more.

Q. Will I get cleaning and laundry services?

A.Most properties have an onsite laundry room which includes washing machines and dryers. A.Although we try our best to find accommodation that meets all your needs, if you still don’t like your accommodation, we will try to replace your room within 30 days for nominal fee.

Q. Can I sub-let my room for the time I am not staying there?

A.Absolutely not, sub-letting your room under no circumstances is allowed, so please refrain from doing that.

Q. Do I have to vacate my room during holidays?

A.Never. Your room belongs to you for the entirety of your tenancy period!
