Australia offers quality education at an affordable tuition fee and thus has the third-largest number of foreign students behind the USA and UK. Most of the Universities are government-funded and offer plenty of cheap courses to students.

The cost of vocational and training (TAFE) courses varies between A$3,500 and A$18,500 depending on whether you want a certificate, diploma, or advanced diploma. Below are some of the cheap universities in Australia on the basis of tuition fees and courses offered:

University of Divinity 

It is a collegiate university offering vocational and cheap courses in Australia. It is the direct successor of the Melbourne College of Divinity, which is the second-oldest degree-granting authority in the State of Victoria. 

The university offers courses around four broad areas of study: Humanities, Biblical Studies, Christian Thought & History, and Theology: Mission and Ministry.

Starting tuition fee: A$14,700 /year

University of Southern Queensland 

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is a regional university offering cheap courses in Australia in its three university campuses at Toowoomba, Springfield, and Ipswich.

It offers undergraduate courses in a variety of areas of study like Law and Justice, Health, Engineering, Humanities, Sciences, Business and Commerce, Education, and the Arts.

Starting tuition fee: A$24,000 /year

Application fee: Nil

University of Queensland

Located in the capital city of Queensland, Brisbane, UQ is Australia’s fifth oldest university, and colloquially known as a sandstone university. It is one of the leading Australian Universities and is ranked 47th in the world by the QS World Rankings 2019. 

UQ offers associate, bachelor, master, doctoral, and higher doctorate degrees in Business, Economics, Journalism, Computer Science and more. The university is also ranked 57th in the world according to the graduate employability rankings.

Application fee: A$100

University of Canberra 

It is a public university located in Bruce, Canberra and offers a plethora of  cheap courses in Australia UC offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees covering five areas: Health, Art and Design, Business, Government and Law, Education, Science, and Technology.

Starting tuition fee: A$26,800 / year

Charles Darwin University

Established in 2003, Charles Darwin University (CDU) is an Australian public university and a member of the group of seven Innovative Research Universities in Australia. 

The university offers a wide array of higher education degrees and vocational education and training courses in  Aboriginal and Australian Studies, Business and Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine and Health, and more. Students have flexible study options, including part-time, external and online so they can complete the course as per their convenience.

Victoria University 

It is a dual-sector tertiary institution offering courses in both higher education and Technical and Further Education. It has three campuses in Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD). 

VU offers undergraduate courses in a variety of disciplines, including Business, Information Systems, and Creative Arts, with its Computer Science course, recognized internationally.

Western Sydney University 

Founded in 1989, Western Sydney University is a renowned university with a growing international reach and reputation for academic excellence and impact-driven research.

It is ranked 25th in Australia and 5th in Sydney as per the QS World University Rankings, 2019. The university offers a wide range of cheap courses like Humanities and Communication Arts, Science and Health, Business, Law, Health, and more. 

Starting tuition fee: A$30,200 / year

Application fee: A$50

Edith Cowan University 

Named after the first woman to be elected to an Australian Parliament, Edith Cowan, it is an Australian public university located in Perth, Western Australia. 

The university offers more than 300 courses across two metropolitan campuses, in Mount Lawley and Joondalup and many of them are also offered for study online. It is also home to the WA Screen Academy, one of Australia’s leading film schools.

University of Adelaide

The University of Adelaide is the third-oldest public university in Australia with its main campus is located on North Terrace in the Adelaide city centre. It is ranked 106 in the world by the QS World University Rankings,2019.

It offers undergraduate degrees across various faculties, namely Arts, Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences,  Health and Medical Sciences, Business, Economics, Finance, and more.

RMIT

Located on the northern edge of the historic Hoddle Grid in the heart of Melbourne, RMIT is an Australian public research university founded by Francis Ormond in 1887.

It is ranked 17th in the World for art and design subjects in the QS World University Rankings 2019, making it the top art and design university in Australia. RMIT offers degrees in a variety of courses like Business and Management, Communications and Media Studies, Development Studies, Structural Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and more.
