Canada has been consistently ranked as the sixth most peaceful country across the globe. Along with its renowned educational institutions and scenic beauty, Canada has been distinguishably known as an ideal study destination for students who desire to pursue higher education abroad.

The largest foreign-student population is often found in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Quebec, which offer students a dynamic and vibrant ambience. Canada, moreover allows the students to enjoy a rewarding academic experience while also participating in a wide range of fun and recreational activities.

Many Canadian colleges are ranked highly in international rankings, and the Canadian Ministry of Education recently released an educational strategy that emphasizes growing the number of overseas students. Moreover, the country’s flexible course curriculum encourages students to work while pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees and guarantees legal employment in the country after their graduation.

Although there are several reasons why Canada is so popular amongst students, this article concentrates on the top five reasons why Canada is the ideal country to pursue international education.

Academic excellence

Canadian universities have an ancient legacy and credibility for academic excellence with a high graduate employability rate. The high-quality education offered by the country is among the topmost reasons why students want to study here. The 2019 QS World University Rankings ranks 26 Canadian universities, while the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings list brims with 27 Canadian universities.

The University of Toronto is listed among the top 30 best universities in Canada in THE. The University of British Columbia is listed among the top 40 best universities in Canada. McGill University is listed among the top 50 best universities in Canada in THE.

Affordability

Canada is an appealing study abroad option for students because of its affordable cost of living and lower tuition fees in comparison to other study destinations such as the United States, UK, and Australia.

Student accommodation expenses in Canada lie somewhere between CA$1,000 to CA$1,500 per month. The public transport one way will cost you only $2 – $3. An average restaurant meal will cost only between $10 – $15.

Since many institutions in Canada are government-funded, their tuition fees are lower but that does not mean there is a compromise on the education they offer. Also, universities offer multiple scholarships to help students fund their education and live their dream of studying in Canada.

Work Opportunities

During their semesters, all international students have the chance to work up to 20 hours a week, and full-time during the summer and winter breaks. Moreover, you will not be needing an additional work permit to intern in any company because your study visa is sufficient to assist you in finding part-time employment on the campus.

Immigration Opportunities

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PWPP) in Canada permits students to stay and work in the country for up to three years following graduation. You can later on gain sufficient work experience and apply for permanent residency, in the future.

Rich Cultural Experience

Canada’s population is extremely diversified, resulting in a rich and dynamic cultural landscape. For example, The Montreal International Jazz Festival is a must-visit for music enthusiasts. The event welcomes more than 3,000 artists from over 30 different countries every year and over 2 million festival-goers floods the city’s streets all over.

In Canada, hockey is more than a national sport. To properly understand the excitement around hockey, you must attend a game during the playoffs, which typically take place in May.

The annual Poutine Week is the perfect time to enjoy the flavoured combination of French fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Locals and visitors alike enjoy it at all hours of the day and night. It is a must-try in Canada for all food lovers.

A trip to a sugar shack is unrivalled. It’s a fun location to dine, dance, and have a wonderful time. To properly appreciate Canadian culture, you must visit a sugar shack in Quebec during their sugaring-off season, which runs from mid-March to mid-April.

So, if you are looking for an ideal destination to pursue higher education, Canada must be on the top of your list for its affordable world-class education, great employment opportunities, and splendid culture. Students opting to study in Canada don’t have to worry about their accommodation as well because cities like Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto has many appealing off-campus housing options to choose from.
