Founded in 1898, the University of East London is a public university located in the London Borough of Newham, London. The university as of 2019 had 17,000 students from 135 countries enrolled at its three campuses located at Docklands and Stratford in East London. The campuses are in close proximity to the major financial centre of Canary Wharf and the region chosen to host the 2012 Olympics. UEL has seven schools offering degree programmes and other courses.
